The cost of breaking Cool Baby’s TV addiction: “Baby wipe” showers

Last week I realized that most of Cool Baby’s tantrums had to do with me turning off the TV or CB begging me to turn it on.  He would also frequently wake up in the morning and from naps screaming out for “Caillou” or “Sesame Street.”  He was addicted and it was all my fault.  Even though I had good justifications, I still felt very guilty for allowing this excessive TV watching.

I once again tried to break the addiction.  Five days have gone by without any TV (CB is an all-or-nothing kind of guy) and it really has reduced the tantrums.  However, something very important has also been reduced–the amount of opportunities for me to take an uninterrupted shower.  I’ll spare the details.

Have your kids ever gotten addicted to TV?  Have you found a good middle ground?

  1. Yep, happens to us, too! If we let A watch more than two videos a day for a couple days in a row, we’re in trouble. Because then all we hear is “movie!movie!movie!” Ugh. We’ve had to break the habit more than once!
