We took our daughter to Germany when she was 2…we told her the no smoking sign and the seat belt sign meant…no crying and no whining! It worked!

We flew with my daughter when she was about 18 months. She had her own seat with her car seat strapped into it. During the outbound flight, we let her play on the floor in front of her seat while at cruising altitudes. Yes, it might not have been overly clean, but it kept her happy. We went to the second hand store before the trip and found little toys that were new to her and would not be a big deal if lost during the trip. We made sure she had her favorite blanket and stuff bear. On the return flight, she fell asleep before take off and didn’t wake up until we started descending into our home terminal 3 hours later. when i realized i would be alone with cool baby on one of the flight legs, i gave cool dad a simple choice: benadryl (he did have a runny nose, after all) or junk food. he chose the junk food and the rest is history.

CB has flown several times in CM’s lap leading up to this flight. Just make sure that you bring coloring books, regular books, pop-up books, matchbooks, magnadoodle, cheese doodles, wet noodles, animal crackers, and real live animals, and I think you’ll be OK!

I really wish I was on that flight with you. Oh, no – not because I would or could have helped you parent. It’s just that reading your article made me want Doritos or Cheetos so badly!! Man I could go for some Doritos and a Mountain Dew!

One more thing. It is completely irreverent to speak of Cool Ranch even competing with Nacho Cheese. Shame on you.

i still have nov. 28, 2007 seared into my brain. It was the flight that made me curse the Wright brothers’ ingenuity. But once you get thru one of the “flights from hell,” you feel like you can take on anything.

Uggggghhhhhh! Annalyn is taking her first flight in a few weeks. She’ll be 20 months old. We’re not getting her a seat. She’s flying down to FL with my parents and back with us. I’m DREADING IT!!! I mean, that vacation should be nice. But the flight part? I’m so nervous!

We’ve talked about food, and coloring books, and regular books, and a magnadoodle. But I’m still scared…

And yes, Cool Ranch beats Nacho Cheese any day.
