It’s Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday until the Saturday before Easter. When I was young, this used to be a big deal, though I think it was more like Candy and Colored Egg Hunt Week rather than one that’s “holy.”
This year, the week unfortunately doesn’t seem very holy. The last seven days have been about balancing family, work, and sleep. We missed church on Palm Sunday. No big plans for Good Friday. We should make it to church on Easter Sunday.
Is it bad that we’re not making a bigger deal of these days of remembrance?

I’ve had a few similar discussions this week. My single friend talked about how discouraging it is to go to church alone on the big holidays. My mom and I discussed how frustrating it is that we overcommit and overwork during holidays and miss the point.
It’s hard, that’s all I’m sayin’.
I really believe God wants us to make a big deal of Him everyday instead of many people just going through the motions a few holidays a year, don’tcha think? But I do understand what you’re feeling.
Just today I saw a little video clip of “Speed Bump the Tortoise”, that takes a walk down the sidewalk in front of his owners store on the East Side. Have you seen him? The owner didn’t say what his store was, but the giant tortoise is supposedly well-known in the area.
It’s funny, every time I hear some kind of news in NYC I can’t help but think of you guys. Sorry.
Mary – yes, overcommitments. a great point.
Brenda – I haven’t heard of Speed Bump, but I have to investigate now!
