Cool Mum and the boy are spending next week in Florida with the Cool Grand’rents. It’s Cool Dad alone in the city until Friday. It’s just like The Bachelor – minus the lineup of eager ladies, fancy dinners (does pasta and sauce count?), and the millions watching. Though I’m happy with the few dozen reading.
So, I’ll be working everyday and coming home to an empty, tiny apartment. Sadly, I complain way too much about the small space in which we’re living, for reasons like:
1) Not much room to put stuff.
2) We always have to ‘slide by’ each other to go to different parts of the place.
3) There’s little privacy to be had, which makes it hard since I’m the kind of writer that needs quiet.
Despite those complaints (which I’m ashamed of when I see them written), the apartment will probably feel cavernous without my two best friends there.
I’ll try to make the best of it, and be as productive as possible with the newfound space and quiet. This will include blogging, editing some video, and screenwriting. Oh, and I’ll also watch LOST with the volume fully turned up without fear of waking a sleeping Cool Baby.
What do you do when you have extended time to yourself?

I’m sorry…extended time to yourself? Please explain.
Extended time? To myself? I think I wrote about in one of my journals from ’97… I’ll have to go dig it out, dust it off, and refresh my memory…

Since Mark works evenings, I have lots of extended time to myself (after the kid is in bed, of course). Sad to say, I watch a lot of TV, read a lot of blogs and read some books. I’d love to say that I wash dishes, fold laundry and prepare our taxes. But that would be a lie.
there something to be said for relaxing – it’s important!
