Cool Home Showdown: Pests

From Cool Mum’s slumber party with a roach (I think it was a beetle) and CoolStuffForDads.com’s comment, the next round of Cool Home Showdown is buggy in nature.

ROUND 2: PESTS

CM’s take: In the past 6 months, I’ve seen one centipede (after we left our window open) and one small roach. Thankfully, the only mice I’ve seen have been confined in a glass case at PetCo. Compare that to frequent earwigs and Asian roaches inside and black widows and swarms of mosquitoes just outside our walls in Florida. NYC wins this one easily.

CD’s take: Having waged wars with generations of black widows, I must concur with Cool Mum. Plus, the cockroaches and palmetto bugs that sneak into Florida homes are just nasty, filled with all sorts of goop when you smush them. I’ve seen several rats up here, but just in the streets and subway tunnels. If one ever invites itself into our tiny home here, I’ll revisit my opinion. The one thing against NYC: Cool Baby misses his favorite toys.

After two rounds of The Showdown, NYC takes a sizable lead!

FLORIDA: 1
NEW YORK CITY: 3

Wow, before reading this post but after reading the roach post, I would have assumed NYC would lose this round. I guess I never realized how many terrible pests FL has! :)
