A huge, mind-blowing realization

I was eating my lunch while simultaneously playing “Twinkle Twinkle” with my feet on Cool Baby’s piano mat. Cool Baby began saying his abc’s.

I realized that the alphabet song has the same tune as “Twinkle Twinkle.”

WHOA. Please tell me there is someone else out there who, like me, did not know this seemingly obvious fact. My world is forever changed. Twenty-seven years of knowing both songs and now this.

Anyone???

I didn’t realize it until we had our daughter at the age of 35, so you are not alone. It must be a realization that we come to after having kids, because I can’t imagine thinking about either of those songs before that.

I was an adult when I realized it too, and I was a music major in college. I believe I was teaching piano when I realized it and I loved sharing it with my students. Also, Baa Baa Black sheep-same tune.

    Love your blog!

I almost posted this anonymously, but no, I never realized that until now.

I’m not sure if I should thank you for making me smarter or making me feel dumber :)

I think the rest of us are thinking, “REALLY?. Just now?” :)
It’s true that kids really do change our lives!

i just realized it a couple of weeks ago. The Cool ‘Rents are Slow ‘Rents sometimes.

Based on the number of people realizing this at basically the same time, it’s like God’s trying to tell us something… thoughts?

Amy – maybe we should look to the heavens for a sign?

brain-drops and melene–ah, i feel so much better!

mary–wow! glad i’m not the only one! if i were a better blog reader, i’d be able to teach cool baby these types of things instead of him teaching me.

chad–way to fess up! at least now you will never falsely correct a child who uses the “wrong” lyrics, like i did, only to find out they are right!

rowan–so far, it seems to be for the good too.

amy–i think maybe we all need to go out and get rich by putting new lyrics to old public-domain tunes! and donate the proceeds to compassion! and i want to know at what age you, the piano teacher, learned of this piece of truth from the heavens?

    Hahahahahahaha. This is hilarious.
I’ve actually known for a long time, maybe it has something to do with my age? Hm.

  11. cool dad says:

raq – why didn’t you tell us earlier?

  12. Amy Wright says:

Cool Mum – I can’t say that I remember my day of enlightenment, so it must have been a long, long time ago. :)
