My week as a New York nomad

God is sweet. I don’t mean that in a tender, Strawberry Shortcake way (though His love is impossibly soft and warm). I mean, he’s SWEET, like awesome, cool, and gracious all at the same time.

Last week was quite an adventure for me. A quick rundown in convenient list form:

MONDAY
7:00 AM – Saw CM & the boy off at Penn Station as they headed back to Florida. I didn’t want to watch the train leave lest I get emotional, so I left. Thought that I was out of our apartment that day, but by God’s grace, I got another night.

TUESDAY
Worked and stayed at a family friend’s on the Upper East Side.

WEDNESDAY
Worked and went to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to stay with a friend that I’d never met. Walking the dark streets at 9:00 pm in a new neighborhood? No problem!

THURSDAY
Worked, attended a church party (good story later), watched some of the VP debate, late night computering.

FRIDAY
Worked, took the train to Long Island at night, old family friends picked me up at the station. Stayed up way way too late watching cable (it’s been a while) and on the computer.

SATURDAY
Spent time with family friends, played Wii for the first time in ages, drove around Long Island.

SUNDAY
Got dropped off in Manhattan again. Walked 30 blocks with stuffed backpack and laptop bag to save $2 subway fare. Spent that money on chicken & tomato pizza. Went way out of the way to get a cannoli in Greenwich Village. Stayed with another friend I’d never met.

MONDAY
Met up with CM & CB and moved into our new place!

Thank you, LORD, always providing me with shelter and often free food. Thank you for letting me meet new people – I hope I shared Your love in a way that honored you. Thank you for keeping my family safe and thank you for the wonderful readers reading this now and for their prayers!
