It’s Friday night in NYC and you know what that means! CM and CB are already in bed, and I have all night on the computer. That’s OK, because I only spent all day on the computer, too (albeit working).
A couple of beliefs I have about computers that seem to prove themselves true over and over again:
1) I think I have spent 47.4% of my life watching progress bars go across the screen. And you Mac addicts can’t your usual “Get a Mac” potshot, as a Mac user told me just today that he watched progress bars all last weekend. In case you haven’t had your life’s fill of progress bars, watch this.
Wasn’t that awesome?
2) ANYTIME you’re using a computer and you’re either
- trying to show something to a person
- on the phone, trying to look up something that the person on the other line needs to hear
The computer must slow down to 39% of its usual operating speed. This NEVER fails to happen. And I usually make an anecdote much like I’m making now, and we both have a hearty laugh, breaking the tension caused by a moronic computer.
And the third thing, which may be the most significant thing that I’ll ever say on this blog or to any other person in general in my lifetime is that This program had an unexpected error. Please report this error to Microsoft and get off the computer for once today. System error #320581.
