Where’s my Chandler Bing??

Does this really happen? Do strangers meet in New York and become lifelong pals? Do they all become rich to the tune of $1 million for a week of work? (I’m sure that last answer is ‘no’.)

I’m a social guy. I like getting people get together (see: Cool Chat). I’m fascinated by people – by their stories, their beliefs, our similarities and differences. I want to get to know them.

When we decided to move here, we asserted that we had to make friends. And fast. Making it in New York is hard enough. Fending for ourselves with a 1-yr-old sounded like punishment.

God has used old friends and many random strangers to bless us incredibly in the 2 weeks we’ve been here. Is it bad to say that I want more?

I try to be intentional with people, though that’s against the norm. I show interest when you’re supposed to just wait for the next random run-in. It seems that CM and I ask new people more questions than we’re asked. We joke that we’d be great talk show hosts.

Yesterday, I prayed that God would give us good friends here. I think that we all want heartfelt friends. Many hurt because they don’t have any.

God’s going to answer my prayer soon. And as usual, it’ll happen in a most unexpected way. Maybe I’ll pray for that million-a-week salary, too. Suffice it to say that our new buds would have dinner on us a lot.

I’ll pray for you guys to make some friends up there – I know how hard it is to be without that important part of life, and how much richer life is with them. You’re right, though, I’m sure you’ll soon be telling the amazing story about how God brought your new friends into your life!

Wishing we were in NYC with you… not sure who SHB would be, but I’ve been told more than once – by random waiters – that I look like Phoebe… though I’m not sure I see the resemblance. :) Praying that soon some of those “people that you meet as you’re walking down the street” will soon be people who feel very “at home” in your hearts.

Ok, I’m trying to get caught up on some reading… sorry for being late to this post. Man CD, BRO, I FEEL YOU (reminds me of Depeche Mode) I have been praying about the same thing, HARD CORE. I was actually thinking of going to some AA meetings to meet people, but suddenly I am reminded of Fight Club. Love ya man, praying for you and yours… Friends are just around the corner, in JESUS’ NAME!
