Say a little prayer for us (or two)

August 21, 2008 |  by cool dad  |  the Life

Interesting day here in the Cool Household. If you think of it, would you mind tossing up a couple of quick prayers for us?

1) Fay is coming our way. We hope that she’ll be a 98-lb weakling of a tropical storm when she visits and that damage won’t happen. Actually, it would be really sweet if she just turned around and died a lonely death in the Atlantic. Does that sound harsh?

2) I have been fearful to take the next step for one of my biggest dreams: having a screenplay made into a film. I emailed a production studio about my script a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t heard back, so I need to call to follow up. I’ve put off calling because as long as I don’t call, it seems like I haven’t been rejected.

Well, I need to go for it. Today. I’m planning on making that call this afternoon sometime, weather permitting, of course.

Thanks for keeping up with us and for your prayers!!

5:30 PM UPDATE – Well, I just got off the phone with my targeted contact at the production company. She said that they don’t take unsolicited scripts, and that I need to get an agent, then contact them. This was the most likely and realistic thing to happen, but I was hoping that God would do something very unrealistic. Maybe next time. Now back to the real world.

CoolFam – will pray for safety from Fay! Also, will pray for perserverance with your dream. It’s so awesome that you’ve taken this first step, even if it hasn’t taken you very far…yet! Do you know where to find an agent?

Tam – are you writing a Christian book? I’ve recently found a couple resources that might help, if you are, and if you don’t already know about them. Michael Hyatt, CEO of Thomas Nelson, has a list of agents who represent Christian authors on his blog (http://www.michaelhyatt.com/fromwhereisit/2007/11/literary-agents.html). Also, Rachelle Gardner is an agent who has a blog for writers, talking about how to get an agent and other FAQs (http://cba-ramblings.blogspot.com/).
