Two weeks ago, I was the breadwinner in the family. Now, I’m the cookiemaker.
August 1 was my last day of work. The 4th through 8th were spent at a youth camp, and last week flew by as we were packing up the house.
So, it hasn’t been until this week that I’ve felt unemployed. Sleeping in as long as the boy will allow us. Running errands whenever I want. Actually seeing the sun (my old office was a windowless storage closet).
During this jobless period, Cool Mum has taken up the house-selling responsibilities (talking with realtors, doing research), while I’ve handled the kitchen duties (cooking, most of the cleaning).
I enjoy cooking as it usually leads to eating. However, after a few days of this, I’m starting to miss the routine of having a job. It’s also weird to think that my friends, including you all, are working while I’m playing around with the boy on the floor.
Our NYC plans have changed a bit, which we’ll update you on soon. Hopefully I can get back to making some dough instead of baking it.

I’m having a great time with Mr. Cool Mum at home! Except that I fear for my health with the cookies per week going up by 600 percent.
I thought about you guys this morning…I was painting a room and my hub was baking cookies…he walked in and said, “Role reversal.”
CM – they’re healthy cookies. 1 stick of butter instead of 2.
ets – it’s sweeping the nation! at least florida.
hold up! how come brent doesnt bake??? dude, you have to email that boy!
This is so funny to me. And…healthy cookies, eh? Sounds good to me!
At my college, I was a student leader (a wing chaplain, to be exact.) At the beginning of each semester, student leaders would come back early and be poised and ready with nifty t-shirts, rolling carts and golf carts to help students move into the dorms. Helping guys move in was always a funny role-reversal, especially since we’d end up wandering around their floors (an uncommon sight during move in). I wonder if it made them feel like sissies for letting girls help them haul their stuff around.
Those guys ought to bake us cookies. =)
