Our plans have changed a little since the announcement that we’re moving to New York City. We’re still moving! But we’re actually not quite sure what we’re moving for. Lemme ‘splain:
- My 1-year job with the non-profit agency has fallen through due to lack of funding. Actually, it was still available, but chances were good that I would be let go within weeks of starting. It seemed like God closed the door on that.
- CM and the boy’s flights up there were already booked (mine was to be paid for by the job), so we bought a flight for myself and are heading up there next Friday the 29th.
- Wait, WE’RE HEADING UP THERE NEXT FRIDAY THE 29TH!
- We plan to stay there at least a month. I’ll search for jobs that will enable us to stay for 6-8 months. Then we’ll likely move back to Florida.
So, we’re moving to New York with no job, no housing arrangements, no idea what’s waiting there for us. Brilliant. And we’re trying to sell our house, which no one is seeing because of Tropical Storm Fay.
Life is as clear as the mud that our lawn has turned into after 3 days of non-stop rain.
When I pulled out of the non-profit job, it seemed like we gained some control of the situation, as the funding situation was unclear for a while. However, we feel no more certain about anything as we did before. We have the option of moving back after the month, but we don’t want to.
It’s time to see whether we really meant that we’re trusting God to provide. Dreams are scary things, but this is all still pretty cool.
