PPT: the Cool Grand ‘Rents

July 8, 2008 |  by cool dad  |  fun and games

For Positive Post Tuesday, I want to talk about two people very dear to me: the Cool Grand ‘Rents — the ones on my side. CM can post about hers if she’d like.

Actually, I’ve had some tough talks with the CGRs lately, but I still look up to them as the loving parents that they are. I doubt that they will ever read this — they likely think that a blog is what you sneeze into a tissue. However, I want to lift them up anyway.

Great things about my CGRs:

- They both worked stressful, long hours to provide shelter and comfort for our family. And they rarely complained about it.

- They kept us going to church. Regardless of the effectiveness of said churches as I look back, they kept God in our lives and that counts for something.

- They love us even if they disagree with a decision. I feel blessed that while disagreements can be hard, they don’t build walls between us.

- They are crazy about the boy. It’s a joy to see often-stoic Cool Granddad morph into a doting baby-talker to get the boy to laugh.

- They’ve been married for 30+ years.

- They are kind to people in their town. Fortunately, people recognize that and return the hospitality. They’re in a good situation.

- Cool Grandmum has learned to surf the Web. It’s funny see her come online on Google Chat around midnight. My dad still wants nothing to do with computers. He complains, “Twitter is over capacity so much, why bother?!” Maybe not.

No matter how our life unfolds, I’m confident that the Cool Grand ‘Rents — my parents — will love and want the best for me and my family. After all, I was their Cool Baby once.

Grandparents on the internet is awesome!

I have some regulars around my blog named Papa & Mama. they rock. They are in their late 60’s. So far Papa is one of the only ones to use my video comments feature. Love it!

Sounds like your grandparents are amazing people!
