It’s 11:30, and I just finished breakfast. I love Saturdays.
When we’re in town, Saturday mornings usually consist of me making Aunt Jemima whole wheat pancakes with assorted things stirred in, like bananas, chocolate chips, or blueberries. Do you have any Saturday AM traditions, breakfast or otherwise?
And the best thing is: it’s lunch time!

we don’t really have sat. am traditions these days, but we LOVE LOVE LOVE a.j. whole wheat pancakes.
personally, i’m a fan of the bananas added but my girls are NOT.
when we lived in orlando, we would often go to an old school diner on sat. mornings for breakfast. now we’re in the boonies, and it would cost us 10 bucks to drive to one.. boo
We usually do pancakes too – the girls’ favorite mix-ins are rainbow sprinklles – but this morning we went to the beach!
hambricks – yes, AJ for life! hopefully your girls will grow into the bananas. so good.
amy – sounds fun! one of the benefits of S. Florida for sure (if you like the beach — which we don’t ^_^ )
Not liking the beach= -8 cool points.
We have too many kiddos running around (and we are too undisciplined) to have any big “every-weekend” traditions, that being said, we often have pancakes on the weekends (maybe twice a month)and it’s usually when we sleep in too late to make it too church…but we went to a new church on friday night…it was really cool, and the time is awesome, so maybe we can be more regular…and if you haven’t checked it out yet we found a rather inventive pancake product…check it out on my blog, it was just a couple of days (posts?) ago.
Amy, I like the Beach idea…we have been doing lots of that lately..we like the evenings…since it get dark late, and it seems to get the kids tired out a bit.
we make low fat, high protein cottage cheese pancakes. sounds gross, but they’re my fams favorite. SO good!
My mom usually makes Venezuelan food for breakfast on Saturdays. And I wake up at 10:30. That’s always fun.
And hey I live in South Florida but I don’t like the beach either. Not to sound offensive but, to me the beach is just salty water and white dirt.
So +10 cool points for not liking the beach (:
That’s funny, because my roommates and I typically stumble out of our rooms at 11 or so (shameful, I know…) and I’ll make pancakes with similar ingredients to yours. Throw in some French press Starbucks brew and a movie or some show on Bravo, and we’re good to go. We also tend to clean up around the house, organize the fridge, catch up on dishes and such, since we’re all together. It’s much nicer when you have people helping (and defending whatever 3-week old pasta they have in the back of the fridge).
I adore Saturday mornings with the girls. =)
oh i am replying to this late, but i thought it well worth the belayed saturday morning comment.
since coming to the farm, every saturday has been different, but we are trying to implement a tradition to be sure.
the npr station here plays wait wait don’t tell me at 10:00, so we are now baking cinnamon rolls from scratch and listening to the program on saturday mornings. the goal is to get on the show. one day.
