Announcement: The Cool Fam is headed for uncertainty and upheaval.
No, the boy has not demanded his inheritance to experience the world on his own. Yet. However, my job is ending in a little over a month.
Whoa — that really hit home now that I typed it. Um. I guess now I feel like um
AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
(we are currently experiencing technical and emotional difficulties)
OK. This is not sudden; months ago, it was decided that the office would close. Nothing lined up yet, but I’ve strewn applications about the place, and we’ll see what God makes happen where.
I’m appreciating my current job much more. I do computer data technical stuff in a storage closet. I confess to complaining about my job when, in fact, it is a HUGE blessing that’s allowed us such luxuries as European travel, eating, and sleeping indoors.
For Positive Post Tuesday, here are great things about my job:
- The schedule is flexible. I take lunch whenever I want, as well as arriving and leaving. I stick to normal 8-5 stuff for the sake of working with others’ schedules.
- My co-workers are loving people. They have been kind and supportive, even when I screw up. They are not hesitant to correct me either. At the time, I didn’t like it, but looking back, that’s what I needed badly.
- I’m rich. Compared to over 95% 0f the world, we’re living like royalty. God has provided us with everything we need, so I shouldn’t complain about salary — though I confess that I have often.
- The benefits are generous. I’ve been able to travel, and I took lots of time off when the boy was born. I have health insurance, which should not be taken for granted. And we get about every major holiday off. My memos to get National Waffle Day off have still gone unanswered.
I am thankful to God for providing so much for us through this job. We trust Him for continued blessings through whatever He has next. Hopefully, it will be something that I’m passionate about, like writing, humor, music, creativity, ministry, or Chick Fil-A.
Speaking of — anyone hiring?

emily – I hope not. I’ve never been good at killing folks.
amy – well, if you say so…

rachel – i think i would love to work for Relevant. too bad i don’t have any of the skills they’re asking for.

Wow, what a rough time. God will most certainly get you through, but I’ll pray for the Cool Family while you’re going through it. I got laid off just a few weeks before having Photobaby last fall – remembering and appreciating all my blessings helped keep me sane and faithful.
CD…too bad Relevant doesn’t have a job opening for “full time awesome.” I mean, I’d totally apply…haha.
I think you and CM could tell them they need to overhaul their blog section and make a position for yourselves. Of course, they may not jump at the idea, but they know they need it.
Good luck with the job hunt. I’ll keep my eyes/ears open.
