What in the world would I do without baby carriers?

Seriously, my life would be so much less fun!

First, there was the no-checked-baggage-or-strollers trip through Europe. This was made possible by our hotslings. The hotslings have also provided many hours of solace when nothing else worked.

Now that Cool Baby weighs around 22 pounds, we have the Ergo Baby Carrier for longer stretches. I should have ordered this thing months ago, but the high cost encouraged me to wait until my birthday (and get people to chip in for it!). Every single hour-plus break I’ve had during the day this week has been due to this wonderful invention!

As much as I try to enjoy the new soundtrack of my life, Crying Teething Baby, these breaks of silence have kept me in my right mind. I honestly don’t feel like he weighs much when he’s in it (amazing) and it doesn’t put all his weight on his, you know, area (I want grandchildren one day) like the rest of the carriers.

For those of you who aren’t fans of TMI, you can stop reading here.

For the rest of you, here are some things I can do while wearing CB (sleeping) in the carrier that would be very unpleasant or impossible otherwise:

  • write this blog post
  • have him close without him pushing away to see what else is going on
  • cut his nails
  • do dishes
  • do laundry
  • actually eat or drink something to keep myself alive
  • maybe even answer the call of nature!

If only I were rich, I would buy every parent of a teething baby one of these things!

My best friend has a 5-month old, so perhaps I will suggest one of these to her sometime in the near future. =) It was so funny when we put the little tike into her new car seat a few weeks ago (she’s in the top percentile for her height)…she looked so small and unsure of what to do with herself in there. It was precious.

Ah baby talk…I’ve already been sucked in and I’m not even a mom! I love it. haha Glad you have inventions to make your life easier, CM. Bein’ a mom is an extremely admirable job!

    Amen and amen…

I used a Baby Bjorn with all three of my kiddos and I can thank it for my sanity. When they were very little, it magically put them to sleep every single time.

Frankly, the inventor of the baby bjorn is right up there with the inventor of air conditioning and the quiet game…

Glad to hear you’re enjoying life… thanks to the carrier. :) You’re “new soundtrack” makes me smile and I’m thankful for all your “real life research” that will hopefully come in handy for me one day!
