Ode to Chick Fil-A

Ode to Chick Fil-A

Oh Chick Fil-A, oh Chick Fil-A
All night, for you, I’ve longed and craved

You appeal to every single sense
And sponsor many a Christian event

Oh Chick Fil-A, oh Chick Fil-A
For hours and hours and hours I’d stay

Trademark fast food of the South
Amazing tastes for every mouth
Each meal’s a trip around globe
From Polynesia to Buffalo

Oh Chick Fil-A, oh Chick Fil-A
So fine in many, many ways

It’s certainly worth my fuel and toil
To open that paper bag of foil
A magician may be there to dole out fun
While I sink into that sweating bun
Who needs beef?
Who needs pies?
When you have those glorious waffle fries!

Oh Chick Fil-A, oh Chick Fil-A
Do I smell my once-feathered prey?

At last, I have you in my sight
Your building gleams in red and white
Sweet tea and brownies, I hear your call
And ice cream cones 3 stories tall
Praise God, the end is here to my wait
Moments more, I’m like to swoon and faint

I’m here, receive me, Chick Fil-A!
What’s that?
Oh snap
I’m a sap
It’s Sunday

5:00 AM + a crying baby = this lasting work of poetry. This post is part of Watercooler Wednesday at Ethos.

    Very good–very creative!!!!!

You may get a free sandwich out of this!

  2. brandiandboys says:

Love it! If any fast-food restaurant deserves fast food, it’s Chic-Fil-A.

  3. FancyPants says:

What a beautiful poem, Cool D!

    I love me some Chick-fil-A!

Oh, how I miss thee, Chick-fil-A.

  4. Becky says:

This is a beautiful piece of poetry. Simply beautiful.

I’ll have a #5 with Diet Dr. Pepper, please.

  5. cool dad says:

jim – thanks! and don’t forget the fries :)

brandi – Pollo Tropical is close to my heart, too, but it’s hard to beat fried chicken sandwiches

amber – no CFAs in NYC?

becky – shamefully, i don’t know what a #5 is. i’ll have to check when i go there today :) it’s always just the reg sandwich for me.

  6. Justmatt says:

Standing ovation! Well done…well done! Don’t ever come to FTL – there are no CFAs anywhere! The closest one is a 30-40 min. drive!

  7. cool dad says:

i’m very very sorry. did you hear that McD’s is rolling out a CFA clone sandwich?

try it for free with the purchase of a drink on May 15

  8. Rachel says:

    I am moved. Really.

Once-feathered prey. Ew. haha I think I heard a story once about someone finding a feather in their chicken sandwich, but I’m pretty sure it was McD’s and not your beloved Chick-Fil-A. My stomach just turned over…I should probably stop. :)

    Wonderful poetry, CD. I’m impressed.

  9. cool dad says:

thanks Rachel! any CFAs in Okalhoma?

  10. Rachel says:

There are many CFAs here. In fact, there is one on campus at my alma mater. I think I mentioned before that eating there so much during my undergrad was enough to at least partially ruin the Chick-Fil-A experience for me. Maybe someday I will return to it…

  11. cool dad says:

oh yeah, we’ve talked about this before… time to search the old posts :)

  12. Justin aka J Rocka says:

Dude. Chick Fil A. It is like a disease. As soon as one opens up out here in Cali…droves of people sleep in the parking lots. Then they are rewarded with free Chick Fil A sandwiches for a year. It is amazing.

  13. cool dad says:

YES. i need to do that once in my life.

  14. Shannon says:

Why did I have to read this on a Sunday! My mouth is literally watering right now…literally!

  15. cool dad says:

sorry, Brad! we got our CFA fix in yetserday :)

  16. FancyPants says:

    Cool D,

    Not a one.

  17. cool dad says:

i’m so sorry. i was just thinking if we could freeze one and send it to you, but I don’t think it would be the same.
