Unlike Cool Dad, I’ve never been a big sports fan. I’ve always thought the tailgating part looked kind of fun though–hanging out with friends, grills, coolers, indoor furniture and tv’s outside on a nice day. Thanks to Cool Baby, I finally got my chance!
On Monday afternoon I took him out on an errand and he had just fallen asleep as I pulled up into our driveway. At the same time, Cool Dad arrived home from work. For once in my life I had dinner ready on the stove in advance. But what to do about the sleeping baby? We all know that you should NEVER wake sleeping babies or dogs!
So we tailgated! I poured the chili (how appropriate is that!), rice, and cheese for us while CD opened up all of the doors and back hatch of the car. We brought our dining room chairs out to the garage and set them up facing each other behind the car with a perfect view of Sleeping Cool Baby and the nice cool day outside.
A 45-minute dinner in perfect peace–praise God for setting that up for us! Before the baby came along, I never could’ve guessed how wonderful garage tailgating could be. I wonder if we’re the only ones strange enough to do this.

LOL, that’s awesome.
nice…..what a good baby you have, mine would have woken at the first sniff of dinner and by the way, chili and rice is one of our favorites too!
the boy just loves his car seat. even more than his crib!
