Blogvaluation

Self-evaluation is good, whether it’s a person, a business, sports team, etc. So, it’s time a little blog eval here.

We’re wondering if our “treatment” of Hungry Little Pooh Bear bored, disturbed, frightened, or mildly entertained you. The 0 comments has us picturing you at your computer, asking, “What is wrong with these people?”

My mind often creates by taking something and running with it with a humorous (at least, to me) angle. In this case, when I heard Pooh say, “Goodbye Rabbit!”, it sounded like some 1930s gangster and thus our storyline was born.

And Cool Mum thought it was funny, too. We have similar senses of humor. Sometimes (or maybe often), they don’t translate well to the blogosphere.

So, if you’re still with us, we’d like to know:

- What do you like about this blog?

- What can we improve upon? (better sidebars is first on my list)

- What topics would you like to see discussed more on here? (We have an opinion on everything. And even if we don’t, we’ll make something up.)

- How can I not freak you out as much?

Thanks in advance for being here and helping us make this thing better. Think of it as mystery shopping, except you don’t get anything for it except our humble, weird gratitude.

I like your blog, I didnt even know there was a video about poo bear. course im on MacMail for my feed reader. then again i dont watch much video to beginwith.

Im not giving you any good advise here, but I wouldnt change your blogging style at all. I like it. the guest posts are cool too.

also im not sure how the cool points work but you should get some cool points for that.

all in all ive noticed in the blogging world the good posts go with the bad posts. and its cool to kinda get to know someone, even if its in a disconnected sorta way.

Oh, now I have commenting guilt!!!

We just got around to watching it, and we laughed out loud.

Honestly, we like just about everything about this blog, and about you guys. That is, what we know about you and your anonymous selves. :) I’m a big fan of the cool points tally.

You guys are inspiring and we love hanging around here. As for topics – I love the way you mix it up! My personal favorites are the “no one told us” baby stories, and the ones about housekeeping and saving money, and the general self deprecation. Everyone loves a little self deprecation.

thanks Randy & Amy. now I have cool points guilt b/c I haven’t updated them in a while!

my wife and I read every post. Why? We totally identify with you guys. We love the genuine telling of life as a parent trying to be cool, and trying to do the right thing. And by the way, you guys are dang funny.

My wife loves your anonymous approach. I, on the other hand, want to know who the heck I’m reading about.

My wife (early 30s mom-of-three) loves the posts on house stuff, kids stuff, and family stuff.

Just keep doing what you’re doing. Be real. Be authentic. And be cool!

Trying to be cool right along side of you guys…but not doing quite as well as you are…

DON’T CHANGE A THING! BE YOU!!!

The blog is great…If you are evaluating your blog based on overall comments, I think you are doing great! I think a lot of people just read & leave. Enjoying it, but maybe they don’t have time? At least I hope so, b/c if I based my blogging on this commenting stuff…I think I only have about 2 viewers. I’m not sure I want a “blogvaluation”!
Anyway, Just keep doing what you’re doing! It’s enjoyable, funny and my hip hubby enjoys it too.
    Hip Mama :)

  7. cool dad says:

thanks all – you are very encouraging! i promise this wasn’t just a call for praise :)

  8. Rachel says:

I can echo everyone else, minus relating your experiences with having a kid + family…not yet at least. =)

Keep it up, guys. Cooler sidebars would spice things up. Maybe switch up the page header now and then too! Of course, RSS/feed readers might not catch that…unless you make note of it somehow.

  9. cool dad says:

good points, Rachel. we’ve been looking at the boy’s toes for quite a while now :)

  10. Amy says:

I’ve visited before, but it’s been awhile, but just have to say…be yourselves! You seem to have a good readership and surprisingly, people read a lot of stuff they never comment on! :)

  11. boffthewall says:

Ditto what everyone else has said! I like coming here because you guys are just real. I too like the cool points tally. I still don’t get it, but i like to see it anyways! :-)

  12. Tam says:

No kidding! I don’t fully understand the point system either. But when i’m feeling a little giddy I throw some points there way anyways… Like right now…

CD, CM give yourself 5 points for being willing to change to better accommodate your readers! You are definitely cool!

  13. cool dad says:

amy – thanks! i daresay that we have the best readers around?

brooke – yeah, the cool points tally is based on a complex algebraic algorithm that quadratically factors in… actually we just make it up as we go along.

tam – we appreciate your giddyness!

  14. cool mum says:

Thanks for all of the kind words, everyone! We are glad you come by and visit!

  15. Scott Williams says:

    I’ll be back!
