I miss being a Christian

We were thinking recently about how we haven’t been active participants in “Christian” activities lately. Thanks to out-of-town trips and a sick baby, we haven’t made it out to church much. Bible’s a bit dusty. Not much “fellowshipping” going on. And heck, we haven’t even listened to much Christian music this month (gasp)! We laughed arrogantly, both confident in our thinking that these things aren’t what make us Christians.

The sad part is that I really do miss being a Christian in the more meaningful sense of the word. With all of the distractions that came along with pregnancy (blowing chunks and trying to fit through tight spaces) and a new baby (trying whatever we can to keep this guy happy and cleaning up lots of messes), I’ve really allowed myself to forget what and who is really important.

I never stopped being a Christian. But I have forgotten how amazing it is to have an ongoing conversation with the one who created you. To read the Bible and have the words stick to your bones. To see God pursuing every person with his love.

You know, I think I’m starting to see God pursuing me. Gotta go.

Cool Dad commented on my blog out of nowhere. Are we connected somehow? Either way…

    +7 cool points for you!

I dig the blog, too. I find it witty and interesting, even in its beginning stages.

    +3 cool points! Heck yes!

Of course, you can choose to accept or not accept these amiably bestowed cool points. I understand if you want to stick to the self-rating system. But I wanted to spread the love.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
