Cinque Terre at cinque mesi

So we’re thinking of taking the junior associate with us to the Italian Cinque Terre at around five months old. A final trip to Europe before the crawling / walking / getting-into-things phase starts. Known for the hiking between the 5 towns, this place doesn’t seem like the obvious choice for the stroller-bound. Lucky for us we have the sling so we can navigate the one-foot-wide trails and cliffs tumbling into the ocean with baby tucked safely inside. Ha just kidding. One of us is afraid of heights, so we’re sticking to the one trail that is paved, flat, and railed while using our baby as an excuse. We’re not so daring after all. But won’t we get credit for the ‘our baby has seen Europe’ thing?

You don’t get credit for that! In fact, you are tempting fate! What if this is your last trip over (obviously for unknown and undesired reasons). If you begin to take credit for taking him now, you’re asking for it. That’s akin to going to Disney when your child is an infant and then saying, “but we TOOK you to Disney already.”
